Sono state condivise online le prime immagini e il teaser trailer della miniserie di otto episodi Around the World in 80 Days, prodotta da Slim Film + Television e basata sul romanzo Il giro del mondo in 80 giorni di Jules Verne.

A seguito di un’oltraggiosa scommessa, Phileas Fogg (David Tennant) e il suo valletto Passepartout (Ibrahim Koma) intraprendono un viaggio leggendario che li vedrà circumnavigare il globo in soli 80 giorni, rapidamente raggiunti dall’aspirante giornalista Abigail Fix (Leonie Benesch), che coglie l’occasione per raccontare questa storia straordinaria.

I primi due episodi verranno presentati in anteprima mondiale il 10 ottobre alla Canneseries.

Il cast

Completano il cast: Jason Watkins (Des) e Peter Sullivan (Poldark). Le guest star sono: Lindsay Duncan (A Discovery Of Witches), Dolly Wells (Dracula), Richard Wilson (Merlin), Faical Elkihel (The Spy), Anthony Flanagan (The Terror), Gary Beadle (Patrick Melrose) e Giovanni Scifoni (DOC – Nelle Tue Mani).

Regia e sceneggiatura

Steve Barron (The Durrells) è il regista principale, alcuni episodi verranno invece diretti da Charles Beeson (The Mentalist). I produttori esecutivi sono: Simon Crawford Collins per Slim Film + Television; Lionel Uzan e Pascal Breton per Federation Entertainment.

Lo showrunner è Ashley Pharoah (Life on Mars). La squadra degli sceneggiatori comprende: Caleb Ranson (Child of Mine), Debbie O’Malley (Humans), Peter McKenna (Red Rock) e Stephen Greenhorn (Doctor Who).

Le riprese sono state completate a marzo. Il giro del mondo in 80 giorni andrà in onda sulla Rai.
